How to Juggle With Three Balls

It is always fun to watch someone juggle, and it looks so easy. When you try to do it, it seems all the balls just end up on the floor. With a little direction, and some practice, you could also be a great juggler. Make sure that you have exercised with each ball first, and are comfortable holding and spinning each ball.

Steps

  1. Feel comfortable with the balls, then start with two balls. Take them both and place them in one hand. The starting hand depends on whether you are right or left handed. Throw the ball in the front of your right hand, in an arc type toss, to your left hand.
  2. Watch to see that when the ball reaches its highest point, you throw the ball in your left hand in an arc to your right hand and make sure you catch it with your left hand. If you had exercised with the two balls, this would be easy. When the ball is thrown to your right hand, it will reach its height.
  3. Throw the ball from your right hand, also in an arc to your left hand. Catch it with your right hand. You might find this move to be difficult. It is often helpful to roll the ball (3) in your right hand to the front of your hand with a slight downward motion of the hand before you throw it.
  4. Notice carefully to see when that ball reaches its highest point. Then throw the ball in your left hand in an arc to your right hand. Catch it in your left hand and keep going in the same way.

Tips

  • One Ball Exercise Use only one ball and throw it in an arc from hand to hand at about eye level. Notice that the pattern is the arc, and not a circle as you may have thought.
  • Two Ball Exercise Start with only one ball in each hand. First toss the ball held in your right hand, again in the arc, to about eye level to your left hand. When this ball reaches the highest point in it's arc.
  • Practice to throw the ball, again in an arc from your left hand to your right. Catch with your left hand and then catch in your right hand. Stop.
  • Repeat this same exercise, but now start with your left hand instead of your right. Practice until you can do this smoothly.
  • If you find yourself moving forward with the ball, stand in front of a wall, or a bed to keep you from moving.
  • Concentrate on making your throws an even height at eye level.
  • If all else fails, and you're still struggling, go to: Juggling is a Snap.

Warnings

  • Some of the common mistakes include throwing two balls in a circle, or throwing both balls at the same time. Make sure you throw in an arc. Practice it, and be patient.
