How to Make Slime
Slime is always popular with the kids and the reason why is simple - it's lots of fun! It is much cheaper to make at home, and easy to do. It only requires 3 basic ingredients, which are readily available.
Ingredients
- 1 part craft glue (you will need a lot)
- 1 part water
- 1 part borax (can be purchased in the detergent section of your local store)
- food coloring (if desired)
Steps
- Gather your supplies.
- Create a "stock solution" from the borax. Mix borax in a quart jar (950 ml) filled with water, until no more borax dissolves.
- Mix together enough water and glue until you have a watery, cohesive solution. Add food coloring to the watery glue mixture.
- Stir the borax solution into the watery craft glue, and watch the slime form.
Variations
- The recipe can be modified by varying the proportion of the ingredients. For example, if 2 parts borax solution are used, the slime that forms is "harder" and less gooey.
Tips
- Elmer's glue is one suitable brand of glue if available in your country.
- This solution is best enjoyed on the day of creating it. The slime will gather fluff, dust and particles that make it unpleasant to keep. However, if you do wish to store it, label it well to avoid any confusion as to what it is and keep in a cool place (see "Warnings").
